Daughter of Slain Lafourche Deputy Crowned Louisiana Farm Bureau Queen Felt His Presence

Gracie Pepper said she felt her father's presence on stage with her when she was crowned Louisiana Farm Bureau queen less than three months after Lafourche Parish Det. Sgt. Nicholas Pepper was killed in the line of duty.

"My mom (Christie) said, 'Your daddy's on this stage working overtime,'" said Pepper, her voice cracking again recalling Saturday's pageant as part of the annual Louisiana Farm Bureau Convention in New Orleans. "We cried together."

Vermilion Parish Sixth Grade Teacher to Receive Ag in the Classroom Award at Farm Bureau Convention

Sixth grade science and social studies teacher Hannah Hebert has been named the 2023 Louisiana Ag in the Classroom Teacher of the Year.

Hebert, who teaches at Rene A. Rost Middle School, was recognized for her innovative teaching methods that use agriculture to teach core subjects. She has a passion for agriculture and believes that it is important for students to understand where their food comes from and how it is grown.

Agriculture Classroom on Wheels Visits Ascension Public Schools

Over the past two months, students at five primary schools in Ascension Public Schools participated in the Seed Survivor Mobile Classroom, a program that educates students in grades 3-5 about the importance of agriculture.

In a partnership with the Louisiana Farm Bureau’s Agriculture in the Classroom program, Nutrien and Nutrien Ag Solutions sponsor the initiative called Seed Survivor, a “classroom on wheels” and free, curriculum-based learning experience that encourages children in elementary school to understand what makes plants grow.

Vermilion Parish Corgi Wins People’s Choice Pup at American Farm Bureau Convention

It was the best Case scenario for one Louisiana farm dog at the American Farm Bureau Annual Convention.

Case, a four-year-old corgi from Vermilion Parish, is winner of the AFBF People’s Choice Pup social media contest. Case belongs to Louisiana Farm Bureau members Kelsi and Amanda Duhon who entered their pet in the 2023 AFBF Dog of the Year contest.
