Farmers are invited to submit nominations for the 2026 Farm Bureau Farm Dog of the Year contest, which comes with cash prizes and bragging rights. This is the eighth year of the contest, supported by Nestlé Purina PetCare, which celebrates farm dogs and the many ways they support farmers and ranchers.

The grand prize winner – Farm Bureau Farm Dog of the Year – will win a year’s worth of Purina Pro Plan dog food and $5,000 in prize money.

West Feliciana Parish Man Aarrested for Theft of Livestock

On April 29, the West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested thirty-eight-year-old Eric Montreal Harris of Weyanoke, La., in West Feliciana Parish regarding an investigation involving the theft of livestock. 

The arrest resulted from an investigation by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry’s (LDAF’s) Livestock Brand Commission. It was based on a warrant for six counts of theft of livestock.

USDA Launches Lawfare Complaint Portal For Farmers And Ranchers

The USDA has launched a portal for farmers, ranchers, and USDA customers to report complaints if they believe they have been targeted by unfair or politically motivated legal actions.
