Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame Inducts Class of 2022

The Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame welcomed 12 new members to its ranks at a ceremony on Nov. 12. The Hall of Fame has inducted 268 members since it started in 2008. Toby Lepley, LSU AgCenter associate vice president and 4-H program leader, said the work and sacrifices of the dozen honorees adds up to thousands of hours of service to Louisiana 4-H youth.

Louisiana Farmer New Appointment To United Soybean Board

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the appointment of 19 new farmer-leaders to serve on the United Soybean Board (USB). In addition, 24 farmer-leaders were reappointed. Forty-six leaders and alternates will serve three-year terms, and one new appointed member will serve a one-year term. Leaders will be sworn in for service during the USB December Meeting in St. Charles, Mo.

Ten More Whooping Cranes Added to Louisiana’s Experimental Population

Ten whooping cranes were recently added to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries’ experimental population, the most since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Six juvenile cranes, hatched and reared at the Freeport-McMoRan Audubon Species Survival Center in New Orleans, part of the Audubon Nature Institute, along with four chicks from the International Crane Foundation (ICF) were received at LDWF’s White Lake Wetlands Conservation Area (WLWCA) near Gueydan in early November.
