NASS Releases 2022 Census Of Agriculture Zip Code Tabulations
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) released 2022 Census of Agriculture data tabulated by zip code. This allows users to explore farm characteristics at a local level. The zip code tabulations are available through Quick Stats, NASS’s online data query tool.
“We are excited to provide data users yet another access point to ag census data with our zip code tabulations,” said NASS Administrator Joseph Parsons.

While export sales of U.S. cotton are slightly improved, demand continues to lag USDA estimates. More importantly, there is little to no evidence of any improvement in demand during the coming six months. Thus, December futures will likely trade in the 67-72 cent area through January-February 2025.

A newly established award recognizes veterans or service members for excellence in farming or agriculture and positively impacting local communities. Retired Army Col. Joe Ricker of Indiana is the first recipient of the Veteran Farmer Award of Excellence presented by the American Farm Bureau Federation with support from Farm Credit.
Ricker served 30 years in the Army before retiring from a logistics post at the Pentagon in 2022. His service also included tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since leaving the Army, his commitment to excellence in farming and enriching the lives of veterans has blossomed in a myriad of ways in both his local community of Wilkinson, Indiana, and across the country.

US Rice Makes Another Sale To Iraq
ADM Rice just finalized another sale of 44,000 metric tons of U.S. long grain rice to Iraq, with shipment expected in January 2025. This sale follows the one from August, helping to bring certainty and predictability back into this market.

SU Ag Center and College of Ag Set to Hold Ag Week Nov. 4 – 9, 2024
The Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center (SU Ag Center) and the College of Agricultural, Human and Environmental Sciences (CAHES) have partnered with SU Athletics to host an Ag Game on Nov. 9 against Bethune-Cookman College in A.W. Mumford Stadium. The campus has planned a week of events for the community and agriculture students leading up to the game.
Festivities will kick off on Nov. 4 with Jagie’s Research Rampage: A Social Media Adventure, which will highlight some of the Ag Center’s research projects, will be held throughout the day on the SU Ag Center’s social media platforms.
