The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is offering financial assistance to agricultural producers and private landowners enrolled in its Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) to improve the health of their forests. Will the Soybean Market Adjust 2024 Acres in Time?

Last month, I advised anticipating a record (not trend line, but a record) 2024 national average corn yield in your marketing strategy. Then, in USDA’s annual production summary, the national average corn yield increased 2.4 bu. per acre from November to a record 177.3 bu. per acre. To get to that number, USDA took 583,000 of the worst-yielding acres out of the harvested acreage tally.

Precision Agriculture Summit Rescheduled

 The LSU AgCenter will hold its annual Precision Agriculture Summit Feb. 16 near Alexandria.  

The event was originally slated for Jan. 17. Winter weather caused it to be rescheduled.  

A joint effort of the AgCenter and Fletcher Technical Community College, the summit will take place at the State Evacuation Shelter, 8125 U.S. Highway 71, adjacent to the LSU Alexandria campus.

Port NOLA Granted $226 Million for Louisiana International Terminal

The port will receive funding through the Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) competitive Grant Program, which aims to advance the Biden Administration’s priorities for rebuilding US infrastructure by funding multimodal freight and highway projects.

Port NOLA received a total of $300 million in government grants, including the $226 million INFRA Grant and $73.77 million from the MEGA Grant Program, to assist the first phase of the $1.8 billion container terminal building project.
