SW Livestock Show & Rodeo Coming In February

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The rodeo will be in Lake Charles this week.

The John Deere Sunshine 85th Annual Southwest District Livestock Show & Rodeo has a three-day run in Lake Charles from Feb. 1-3.

The rodeo consists of four PRCA Rodeo performances, the Heritage Rodeo Trail Ride (Week of Jan. 29 through Feb. 1), the rodeo parade (5 p.m., Thurs. Feb 1, Ryan St to McNeese Stadium), the District Livestock Shows (featuring 4-H & FFA Exhibitors, sheep, cattle, goats and hogs with various times Jan 30-Feb 2), The “Brodeo” (a special needs children’s rodeo, set for 9 a.m., Jan. 31), and the finale pre-show featuring the award-winning Barbe Rock Band (6:45 p.m., Feb. 3 ahead of the rodeo)

Several Calcasieu Parish elementary schools will be hosting western dress-up days on Thursday, Feb. 1. The rodeo encourages local businesses and organizations to decorate their windows and storefronts to welcome the rodeo contestants and livestock show exhibitors to Lake Charles.
