HAPPY NEW YEAR! May the year 2026 find you happy, safe, healthy and prosperous! We started the year 2025 with 2% less cattle and calves and ended the year selling 2% more cattle through our 6 Louisiana auctions (Mansura closed July 1, 2025). If we used the last week’s sale in December 2025 and compared it to the first sale in January 2025 in the USDA Southeast Region, 400-700 lb. calves were $500.00-$600.00 per head higher. Throughout the marketing year calves and feeders reached record highs.

Tariffs, Quotas And Registration Hurdles Limit US Beef Access To China

The head of the US Meat Export Federation says China’s recently announced tariffs on imports of beef are misguided. Dan Halstrom says the government is doing it to address inflationary pressures. “However, they should be looking at it from, in our opinion, let’s bolster consumer confidence in China,” he says.  “Because there’s enough demand in China for all parties, Brazil, Australia, the US.”

Cattle Truck Accident on 1-20 Near Mound, LA

A truck loaded with cattle is in the I-20 West median at the 177-mile marker.

According to local law enforcement, a cattle truck has left the roadway and is in the median near Mound, Louisiana. Traffic is being diverted from 1-20 to the Mound exit and then onto Highway 80 to bypass the accident.
