BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Jeff Landry declared a statewide state of emergency Thursday as Louisiana braces for a potentially dangerous winter weather event expected to bring ice, snow and days of freezing temperatures, particularly across the northern half of the state.
Landry warned that the approaching system poses a greater threat than last year’s snowstorm, calling ice storms especially dangerous due to the risk of prolonged power outages and deadly road conditions.
