The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the finalization of Inclusive Competition and Market Integrity Under the Packers and Stockyards Act.

The final rule will be effective 60 days following publication in the Federal Register. The final rule Inclusive Competition and Market Integrity Under the Packers and Stockyards Act (the Inclusive Competition Rule) establishes clearer, more effective standards under the Packers and Stockyards (P&S) Act for prohibited practices relating to discrimination, retaliation and deception in contracting.

More Than 7,000 Head of Cattle Have Died in Texas Panhandle Wildfires, Causing a "Total Wipeout" for Many Local Ranchers

The Texas Panhandle wildfires are taking a significant toll on the region's agricultural industry. Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller told CBS News on Thursday morning that preliminary numbers show more than 7,000 heads of cattle have died in the fires, and that he believes the final toll could end up including thousands more. 

The state has yet to get all the counts of lost cattle in the fires, he said, adding that the 7,000 death toll does not include cattle that will have to be euthanized due to their injuries.

Rare Two-faced Calf Born on Louisiana Farm

Welcome to the world Deux Face! A rare two-faced calf was born right here in Acadiana.

The calf was born at Breaux Farms near Kaplan on late Tuesday night, early Wednesday morning. The owners told KLFY News, “We were checking on the cow that was in labor, we found that she had her calf successfully but with a 1 in 400 million chance, she had a calf with two faces.”
