Louisiana saw a mostly dry week after several rounds of heavy rain earlier in May. Rainfall totals were below normal across nearly the entire state, while temperatures climbed back above average under warm Gulf air.
Drought conditions improved across parts of southern Louisiana thanks to recent rains, but northern Louisiana continued to dry out. More than 75% of the state remains in drought, with Extreme Drought expanding across northern parishes.
Severe weather was limited, with only a few severe thunderstorm warnings issued on May 19 and isolated reports of damaging winds.
