Bill to Create Recreational Alligator Hunting Season in Louisiana Signed by Governor

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Louisiana is getting its first recreational alligator hunting season after Gov. Jeff Landry signed the bill into law, State Sen. Robert Allain III (R-Franklin) announced Thursday.

Senate Bill 244, now Act 37, allows the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission to create a new hunting season. According to Allain, the commission can extend, curtail or ban recreational alligator hunting by area when necessary.
