Louisiana Weekly Climate Summary - April 22–28, 2026
By Jay Grymes

Louisiana experienced a warm and humid week with multiple rounds of rain, driven by a stalled front and Gulf moisture, but rainfall was uneven and not enough to significantly improve drought conditions. Temperatures were well above normal statewide, especially overnight lows, which stayed unusually warm due to high humidity. While northern and southeastern Louisiana saw above-normal rainfall, the southwest remained drier. Drought conditions persist, with Extreme Drought covering about half the state and Severe Drought another quarter, though minor improvements were noted in some areas. The week also brought severe weather, including storms with damaging winds and hail, but no confirmed tornadoes. Looking ahead, forecasts suggest a wetter-than-normal May, offering potential drought relief.
