New Drone Remote Sensing Handbook Available Nation-Wide

By Dr. Randy Prices

The LSU AgCenter participates as a member of the S-1069 group (a national group to promote remote sensing with drones across the country) and we partly contributed to this handbook, so feel free to download and if necessary (although it got heavily billed under the Texas Agri-Life Organization). Here is the link: Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Manual | Publications | AgriLife Learn  (It’s should be fee to everyone). It will be helpful in basic and complex drone mapping concepts and practices.  Do note though, that for general variability mapping of farm fields, a high-end multispectral (NIR) camera is not always necessary as I have had just as good of results using a standard RGB visible wavelength camera combined with the VARI or Green minus Red indices (VARI =  Green – Red / (Green + Red – Blue)  and GR = Green - Red).
