LSU AgCenter, USDA, NRCS Pasture Field Days May 19 & 27
LSU AgCenter
Livestock producers are invited to attend the Pasture Monitoring and Management: Tools and Techniques for Healthier Pastures Field Day hosted by the LSU AgCenter in partnership with USDA NRCS. This hands-on field day will focus on practical tools producers can use to evaluate pasture health, improve management decisions, and increase grazing efficiency.
Participants will receive training on NRCS pasture condition scoring, soil sampling techniques, and emerging technologies such as UAV (drone) monitoring and rainfall simulation. Demonstrations will highlight how these tools can be used together to better understand pasture productivity, soil health, and overall grazing performance.
The field day begins with registration at 8:00 a.m., and lunch will be provided at no cost. Louisiana Master Farmer Program Phase 2 and Continuing Education Credits will be available.
This event is open to cattle producers, forage managers, and anyone interested in improving pasture management using both proven and innovative approaches. Pre-registration is encouraged.
