Forage Production, Cattle Management Takes Center Stage December 5 In Alexandria

(11/05/25) ALEXANDRIA, La. — The annual Louisiana Forage Conference will be held Dec. 5, giving attendees an opportunity to learn about tactics they can use for improved forage production and cattle management.

 

The event will take place in the State Evacuation Shelter near the LSU Alexandria campus on U.S. Highway 71. Registration and commercial exhibits will open at 8 a.m. The program will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a break for a catered lunch.

 

The Louisiana Forage and Grassland Council and the Louisiana Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative are sponsors of the conference.

 

The agenda includes presentations by LSU AgCenter faculty and other experts. They will speak on topics such as virtual fencing and low- and high-management strategies for beef cattle production. A producer panel will focus on grazing management.

 

The keynote speaker will be Charles Rohla, a senior regenerative ranching adviser for the Noble Research Institute in Ardmore, Oklahoma, where he has worked since 2006. Rohla, who specializes in grazing management and silvopasture, will talk about grazing for soil health.

 

Registration costs $25 and can be completed either on site or in advance at www.louisianalci.org/events.

 

Attendees also will be able to join the Louisiana Forage and Grassland Council for $35. Membership is not required to attend.
