The Farmer's Forecast: First Freeze on the Way for Louisiana

It seems like most of what I’ve been talking about for the last several weeks is how dry it’s going to be. I think that will change in a couple weeks. I also think we have our first widespread freeze over parts of Louisiana on Tuesday morning. Let’s take a look at what’s on the way!
First off, we have a very strong cold front that will move through on Sunday. This will cause parts of the state to see temperatures fall from their highs in the 80s on Saturday, down to the 30s on Monday morning. Some place might not see temperatures rise at all during the day on Sunday. Monday night appears to be the coldest night, and I expect frost and freeze advisories over a large part of Louisiana. I think a freeze is most likely north of a DeRidder to Opelousas line. It could be a close call along I 10, and you’ll want to keep up with local forecasts on that.
Beyond this cold front, which will be pretty dry, I expect the pattern to shift back to busy around Monday, November 17th. Ensembles are all indicating an active pattern returning, though details this far out are impossible to give. I’ll be watching all of that, and will update next week. For now, if you have anything out there that can’t withstand a freeze, you’ll want to plan for Monday night. Have a great weekend!
