Severe Weather & Flood Threats For Tuesday

A storm system currently centered in the Southern Plains will send a strong cold front through Louisiana on Tuesday.  The SPC has posted a "Slight Risk" (2-out-of-5 on the threat scale) for severe storms in advance of the cold front for northern Louisiana.  The primary threat window is from Monday afternoon into Monday night, ending early Tuesday morning.

The WPC has also issued a "Slight Risk" for flash flooding in the same region.  Rain estimates from the WPC suggest widespread 1" to 2" totals across the northern half of the state: helpful and welcomed but not a drought-buster.  Unfortunately, most of the southern half of Louisiana is forecasted to receive less than 1/2" of rain for the event.

Tuesday's front will be reinforced by a second 'dry' cold front late Tuesday into early Wednesday.  The combination of two fronts will drop temperatures and dewpoints around the state, setting us up for much cooler days for the Thanksgiving holiday.  No freezes are expected through the weekend, however.

Showers and t-storms are expected to return over the Thanksgiving weekend and into early next week as the next cold front approaches from the west.
