Sugarcane Variety Recommendations for Louisiana in 2022

To date, 2022 has been a good year for sugarcane production in Louisiana. The dry grinding season of 2021 made for a good start for this year’s sugarcane crop. A dry spring and early summer helped farmers conduct timely field operations. Some parts of the Louisiana sugar industry need rain, whereas the more southern producing parishes have had more rainfall. For those farmers with irrigation equipment, those units have been running and have helped minimize the effect of dry weather.
