Central Region Crops and Cattle Forum
The LSU AgCenter will hold the Central Region Crops and Cattle Forum on Thursday, Jan. 6, at the State Evacuation Shelter near the LSUA campus in Alexandria.
Registration will begin at 7:45 a.m. The program will get underway at 8:20 a.m. with opening comments by Tara Smith, director of the AgCenter Central Region.
The forum will start with a presentation on row crop weed management. The program will conclude with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry providing a private pesticide applicator recertification at noon.
Other topics on the agenda include:
— Wheat update and disease management.
— Corn hybrid and cotton variety selection.
— Louisiana soybean production update.
— Weed control in pastures and hay meadows.
— Utilizing growth implants in suckling and growing beef cattle.
— Pesticide drift management, Agricultural Worker Protection Standard regulations, record-keeping and pollinator protection.
Producers must attend the entire meeting to receive the pesticide applicator recertification.
