Soybean Research Connects Producers/Specialists

LSU AgCenter Soybean specialist Dr. David Mosely is conducting research with variety testing on farm demonstrations around the state.

“Thanks to support from the Louisiana Soybean, Grain Research and Promotion Board, the LSU AgCenter is able to conduct variety testing,” says Moseley.

“One I’ll mention is what we call the core block. That’s where we do some variety testing on producers farms. AgCenter parish agents cooperate with the producers to grow and evaluate the yield of varieties that are submitted by seed companies, but also university soybean breeding programs.

“So we’re able to evaluate the performance on the producers farm on that particular environment with the producers maintenance practices.

“That producer and the producers around that area are able to see how a variety would perform in a very particular environment.”
