AFBF Chief Economist John Newton Reappointed to Agricultural Trade Advisory Committee
John Newton, the American Farm Bureau Federation’s chief economist, was recently reappointed to serve on the Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee for Trade in Animals and Animal Products, one of six Agricultural Technical Advisory Committees. ATAC members provide technical advice and guidance on specific product sectors to the Agricultural Policy Advisory Committee, which advises the Agriculture Department and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative on trade policy matters including existing and future agreements.
“Continuing to expand market access for America’s farmers and farm goods is critically important,” said AFBF President Zippy Duvall. “I am confident that John Newton will bring fresh perspectives and insight on the economic implications of complex trade matters as a representative to this committee.”
Newton will serve on the committee until 2025. More information about the Agricultural Technical Advisory Committees is available here.
Newton was also recently honored with a Distinguished Alumni Award from The Ohio State University’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. More information is available here.
