Louisiana’s Food Supply Through Crisis Amid Major Meat Processing Plants Closures Due to COVID-19 Outbreak

Tyson Foods, which accounts for nearly 4% of the nation’s pork, temporarily closed its largest pork plant in Iowa Wednesday amid the coronavirus outbreak at the facility.
The food processing company JBS USA also suspended operations at one of its plants in Minnesota.
Despite the closures of several meat processing facilities across the country Kurt Guidry, LSU AgCenter economist and director of the AgCenter Southwest Region says the state has nothing to worry about, at least for now.
