Crop Progress Report Shows 27% of Corn Planted, 3% Emerged
The most recent USDA crop progress report showed corn planting progress increase significantly over the previous week. Planting progress reached 27% planted vs. 7% in the previous week, above the five year average of 20% and the 12% planted this time last year. Texas, North Carolina and
Kentucky are the frontrunners of corn planting progress at 67%, 62% and 40% planted, respectively.
Soybean planting progress jumped as well, from 2% in the previous to 8% in the week ended April 26. This is double the five year average of 4% planted and above the 2% planted this time last year. Louisiana and Mississippi continue to lead the way in soybean planting progress at 33% and 30% planted, respectively.
