Corrected: Expanded Family and Medical Leave for COVID-19 Patients
The U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) has provided additional information on the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) for employers.
Employers are reminded that under the expanded family and medical leave provisions of the FFCRA, employees that become infected with Coronavirus are eligible for 2 weeks of paid sick leave (up to 80 hrs) to be paid by their employer.
Other provisions may apply for employees caring for Coronavirus infected family members.
Employers are provided tax credits for providing paid sick leave to employees that contract Coronavirus.
Employers are reminded that Coronavirus infections that occur in the workplace must be reported to OSHA and employers must keep records on all employees that test positive for Coronavirus.
