Deadline For Flooding Assistance Getting Closer
By Don Molino, The Voice of Louisiana Agriculture Radio Network
Louisiana Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Mike Strain is reminding producers the deadline to sign up for the Farm Grant Recovery Program is August 30th.
The Housing and Urban Development Department funds are earmarked for farmers and ranchers in the 51 parishes affected by the massive flooding last August for costs and expenses needed to get their operation back in business.
Strain points out those eligible for the money must have had pre-storm adjusted gross revenues of at least $25,000.00 in 2014, 2015 or 2016 with minimum sustained losses of $10,000.00 as calculated by the crop loss calculator.
The affected crops include cotton, corn, crawfish, grain sorghum, rice, hay, sweet potatoes, soybeans, sugarcane, strawberries, wheat and cattle.
