LSU Soybean Specialist Dr. Ronnie Levy
Long time LSU AgCenter Soybean Specialist Dr. Ronnie Levy has now retired after more than 30 years, the last almost ten years as the state soybean specialist.
The Director of the Dean Lee Research Station just south of Alexandria, Dr. Boyd Padgett, says they have some big shoes to fill with Levy’s retirement.
“There will be a number of people at the LSU AgCenter that will be covering what Ronnie was doing while he was here with us,” said Padgett.
“He had a research appointment and myself as well as some other scientists will be overseeing some of his research projects and continuing those in an effort to answer some questions our stake holders have, so we feel pretty comfortable in that area at the moment,” Padgett continued.
Padgett went on to say Levy did an excellent job training extension agents around Louisiana and they will probably be fielding most of the questions for growers.
“However, if there is something that they come up against we do have support specialists who will help answer some of those issues as they come to us. Our pathologists, entomologists, some of the other research agronomist should be able to cover them,” said Padgett.
