Louisiana's Largest Wildfire Triggers Evacuations in Beauregard Parish

One of the largest wildfires to burn in Louisiana in several years is sweeping through Beauregard Parish near the Texas line.

The wildfire had burned through about 12,000 acres by Wednesday morning and is expected to continue north toward the small town of Merryville. Known as the Tiger Island Fire, the blaze is already larger than the statewide annual average of 8,217 acres for the past decade.

Two Caddo Fire Unit Battle Keithville Woods Fire on Monday

Two Caddo Parish fire districts battled a blaze in Keithville, Louisiana Monday morning.

Just after 8 a.m. Aug. 21, Caddo Fire District 6 was dispatched to Ivory Lane in Keithville on reports of a large woods fire. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that the fire was spanning from Ivory Lane to Barron Road and requested Caddo Fire District 4 for assistance.

A Million Wild Hogs Roam Louisiana. LSU Just Patented a Bait to Kill Them

You would need 10 Tiger Stadiums to seat the million wild hogs that run loose in Louisiana. They tear up garden beds, wreak havoc on crops and damage levees — but maybe not for long.

A poisonous bait developed by the LSU AgCenter and LSU Department of Chemistry was approved for a patent earlier in August, according to the AgCenter. The next step before public use is approval by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
