Letlow Requests Federal Disaster Declaration for Louisiana Farmers Impacted by Tropical Storm Arthur

WASHINGTON, D.C. – With severe flooding from Tropical Storm Arthur disrupting farming operations, Congresswoman Julia Letlow is requesting that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) declare an agricultural emergency for the State of Louisiana.

In a letter to USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins, Letlow highlighted the significant impact of the flooding on Louisiana farmers and the need for assistance.

"Heavy rainfall and flooding associated with Tropical Storm Arthur have significantly impacted agricultural operations across Louisiana. Saturated fields and standing water have delayed fieldwork, damaged crops, and disrupted farming operations during a critical period of the growing season," wrote Congresswoman Julia Letlow. "Louisiana farmers are facing substantial economic hardship as they assess the full extent of the storm's damage. Given the severity of these impacts, I respectfully request that USDA take swift action to make available all appropriate disaster assistance to affected producers."

Letlow’s 5th Congressional District is a leading agricultural region in Louisiana and the United States. Her full letter to USDA can be found HERE.
