From jambalaya cookouts to blood drives and telethons, parish teams across Louisiana spent the day connecting with their communities as the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation’s inaugural Membership Monday brought together insurance agents, office staff, and volunteers in a coordinated statewide effort that welcomed more than 1,200 new members across 64 parishes.
The one-day initiative sparked outreach efforts in every corner of the state, bringing together farmers, ranchers, agricultural professionals and consumers in support of Louisiana agriculture.
Amelia Kent, Louisiana Farm Bureau’s 3rd Vice President, said the day was full of enthusiasm and teamwork that made the initiative successful.
“Generations before us created traditions focused on grassroots connectivity, and that’s exactly what happened,” Kent said. “The collaboration of the board and insurance staff really strengthenedlocal relationships.”
Across the state, parish teams put their own spin on Membership Monday. Some hosted cookouts, while others organized blood drives, telethons and office events that created opportunities for conversation and community engagement.
Beyond the numbers, the day created opportunities for connection among members, volunteers, staff and local leaders working toward a common goal.
Mike Melancon, Louisiana Farm Bureau Secretary-Treasurer from St. Martin Parish, said Membership Monday reflected the community-building at the heart of Farm Bureau’s mission.
“Farm Bureau is a way to build the farming community. It always has been, and there’s more to be done,” Melancon said.
Richard Fontenot, Louisiana Farm Bureau president, said the day’s success was measured not only by membership growth, but by the collaboration and shared purpose behind it.
“Sharing the Farm Bureau message together was the biggest win of the day,” Fontenot said. “We told our story together in every parish across Louisiana.”
With more than 1,200 new members joining in a single day, Membership Monday demonstrated the strength of Louisiana Farm Bureau’s grassroots network and its continued commitment tosupporting Louisiana agriculture.
