Louisiana Shrimpers Fear for the Future Amid High Diesel Cost

ST. BERNARD PARISH, La. — The Louisiana shrimping industry is taking a direct hit from the high cost of fuel due to the war in Iran.

Shrimpers, who rely on diesel, say the cost of diesel is now higher than what they can charge for product. Shrimper George Barisich said it would take catching 60 pounds of shrimp an hour in order to pay for diesel.
