WINNSBORO, La. - Fertilizer and fuel prices are rising due to the recent war in Iran.
LSU Ag Center Soil Fertility Specialist Dr. Leo Vieira says this has created challenges for farmers especially for those planting corn.
“We’ve got to apply urea or other; we’ve got to apply nitrogen, and if you’re applying less nitrogen, you’re going to likely have a lower yield,” said Vieira. “So that’s definitely the greatest impact. The production is going to go, is going to decrease.”
