BATON ROUGE --- The Louisiana Legislative Rural Caucus has appointed State Senator William “Bill” Wheat, Jr. (R-Ponchatoula) to the Executive Committee for 2026-27.
“The goods and services provided by those living in rural areas of the state keep Louisiana flourishing, and contribute to the success of our state economy,” said Senator Wheat. “I look forward to working with my fellow caucus members and legislators to ensure those areas are getting much needed funding, policy change and security.”
Wheat, who represents District 37, was elected to the Senate in 2023. He serves on the following committees: Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture, and Rural Development, Vice Chair, Insurance Committee, Revenue and Fiscal Affairs, Transportation, Highways and Public Works, and the Joint Legislative Committee on Capital Outlay.
With 76 members, the Rural Caucus is the largest of the legislative caucuses and includes Senate and House members from across the state.
