Every year, farmers and ranchers are awarded EQIP conservation cost-share funding to implement practices that improve soil health, water quality, and climate resilience.

But there’s a catch.

Many EQIP contracts require producers to pay the upfront cost of installation and then wait months for reimbursement. For many operations, those upfront costs can be enormous, burdensome, or even prohibitive. Some producers put the expenses on credit cards, take out loans, or delay conservation projects altogether.

Producers shouldn’t have to take on additional debt just to access public conservation funding.

To help address this challenge, Food System 6 offers the EQIP Bridge Loan Program, offering 0% bridge financing so farmers and ranchers can implement conservation practices while waiting for EQIP reimbursement.
