Today’s chickens grow faster and bigger than ever before. While this might not sound like a good thing, it is. These birds are also healthier, more affordable to grow, and feed more people than ever before.

Seeing the drastic and impressive progress between the chickens of 1957 to now might raise some red flags or at least bring up some questions. In the 1920s, the average chicken at market weight was 2.5 pounds; today it is above 6 pounds.
