Successful Farming
Today, USDA released the Grains and Oilseeds Outlook for the 2026/2027 crop year. The outlook pegged U.S. soybean acres higher year-over-year and corn and wheat acres lower. The outlook assumed normal weather conditions for the planting and growing seasons.
Combined, USDA estimated U.S. farmers will plant 224 million acres of corn, soybeans, and wheat, down less than 1% from the previous crop year. USDA attributes the decline to “a normal level of prevent-plant acres and a modest expansion in Conservation Reserve Program acres.”
