JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — The end of the Mardi Gras season means the beginning of Lent. For Catholics, it’s a season of restraint and fasting, which includes not eating any meat on Fridays, but for some New Orleans residents, that’s not necessarily a tough ask.
“It’s another beautiful tradition, fried seafood, and boiled crawfish, and all the things that we get to adhere to on a Friday through Catholicism. It’s a great treat,” said one customer at Captain Sid’s Seafood.
Fish fries are a staple this time of year, and seafood business owners believe the prices should stay steady.
