Louisiana Crop Conditions As Of August 10

According to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, as of last Sunday all of the Louisiana soybean crop was blooming, which is also the five year average for this time of year. 94-percent was setting pods, same for the five year average. That crop was rated 8 percent fair, 90 percent good and two percent excellent.
94 percent of the Louisiana rice crop was headed, same as the five year average. 49 percent has now been harvested, compared to only 27 percent this time last week. The rice crop rated two percent very poor, four percent poor, 13 percent fair, 74 percent good and seven percent excellent.
The sugarcane crop is now rated 15 percent fair, 73 percent good and three percent poor.
95 percent of the Louisiana cotton crop was squaring as of last Sunday. The five year average for this time of year is 99 percent. 80 percent was setting bolls, compared to the five year average of 91 percent. 21 percent of those bolls are now open, roughly double from this same time last week. The crop is rated at 48 percent fair, 51 percent good and one percent excellent.
