LDWF Announces Temporary Closure of South Farm in Sherburne Wildlife Management Area

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has closed South Farm on Sherburne Wildlife Management Area (WMA) due to flooding.

The closure only affects South Farm, which is the portion of Sherburne WMA near the Ramah exit on I-10. The remainder of the Sherburne WMA property is expected to remain open throughout the flood event.

Flood water has overtopped trails on South Farm due to flooding in the Atchafalaya Basin. Once the water recedes, LDWF will inspect, repair and reopen the trails.

South Farm in Sherburne WMA is located in Iberville Parish approximately one mile north of Ramah.

Available game species include deer, squirrel, woodcock, rabbit, waterfowl, dove and snipe. There is a small game emphasis area, a youth deer season and a youth deer lottery hunt.

All visitors to Sherburne WMA and all LDWF WMAs must have either a WMA Access Permit, Senior Hunting/Fishing License, Louisiana Sportsman’s Paradise License, or Lifetime Hunting/Fishing License.
