Horizon Ag Louisiana Field Day June 24 in Kaplan, Louisiana
From the performance of the latest Provisia® and Clearfield® varieties to updates on promising lines in development and a new agreement with the LSU AgCenter, the 2024 Horizon Ag Louisiana Field Day is where the industry comes together to celebrate rice country.
The event is scheduled for June 24 at Richard Farms, located at 5632 Louisiana Highway 700 here in Kaplan, with registration at 4:30 p.m. ahead of a field tour at 5 p.m. The tour will be followed by presentations from Horizon Ag, LSU AgCenter and industry rice specialists.
It will conclude with a fantastic dinner that’s always a highlight of the field day, and time to visit with friends who have gathered from across the rice community.
“We’ve got a lot of great things to talk about this year, including how new CLL19 is impressing folks in its first commercial year of availability,” says Horizon Ag CEO Dr. Tim Walker. “We’ll also be talking about how our Provisia varieties, PVL03 and PVL04, are helping farmers clean up costly weedy rice and bring fields back into profitable rice production.”
LSU AgCenter specialists will discuss what’s coming soon in terms of elite Clearfield and Provisia varieties, as well as the condition of the current crop in the region.
Horizon Ag also will answer questions about its recently announced partnership with the LSU AgCenter, and introduce its new rice breeder, Dr. María Guadalupe Montiel, who is supporting collaborative breeding efforts with the AgCenter.
“The Louisiana Field Day is one of our favorite events each season,” adds Dr. Walker. “We’re looking forward to seeing another big crowd this year and to visiting with our rice friends and industry partners.”
