Grand Opening of the Louisiana Farm Barn
DESTREHAN, LA – The River Road Historical Society welcomes you to the grand opening of our newest exhibit – The Louisiana Farm Barn. The grand opening will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11:00 am during the 2nd Annual Spring Garden and Pet Show at Destrehan Plantation (13034 River Road, Destrehan, Louisiana).
The Louisiana Farm Barn focuses on the historical importance of agriculture in Louisiana with displays about crops such as sugarcane, cotton, and indigo. The cotton and indigo exhibits feature the use of these crops in textiles and include a display about Acadian Cotton, which is native to Louisiana. While viewing the exhibit you may enjoy videos about sugarcane production and Acadian Cotton and engage in several interactive displays.
The exhibit will be open daily from 9am to 5:30 pm and is included in the Life at Destrehan Plantation Tour.
