ARLINGTON, VA – The annual National Rice Month (NRM) Scholarship video contest is here and it’s everything! Creative students are challenged to shine a light on our favorite home-grown grain, and in a short video – three minutes or less – educate, entertain, and tell us why rice is special to you, to your state, or to the world.

It’s easy to participate! ReelRiceContest.com has all the details about this year’s contest open to graduating high school students from Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, or Texas.

Three guaranteed scholarship prizes, sponsored by the American Commodity Company (ACC), will be awarded. The grand-prize winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship and a trip with a chaperone to the annual USA Rice Outlook Conference, the second-place winner receives a $3,000 scholarship, and third place receives $2,000.

"We're calling all the budding Greta Gerwigs in rice states to educate themselves, entertain us, and help spread the word about U.S.-grown rice, " said Michael Klein, USA Rice vice president of communications & domestic promotion. "Check out the contest website as it has lots of information including tips on how to make a great video. Most of all, be sure to use U.S. rice, make it interesting, and have fun!"

Entries are judged on creativity, quality, and effectiveness in telling a story about U.S.-grown rice, and are due by October 31.
