LACA Fall Planning Meeting Coming Up Soon
The 20th Annual Louisiana Agricultural Consultants Association Fall Planning Meeting will be held September 30, 2022 (it was requested that we try to hold this planning meeting a bit earlier this year to give us more time to contact/confirm speakers and prepare accordingly). The LACA Executive Board and 2023 LATMC Program Planning Committee invite you to participate in this year's discussions and planning meeting. The meetings will be held in the north arena of the Evacuation Center located on the Dean Lee Research Station. This, of course, is contingent on the Evac Center not being occupied by hurricane victims. In that case, we will go to Plan B, the Food Education Center, Wimbledon Blvd, Alexandria.
This event is intended to bring together key researchers and specialists throughout the state to interact with our independent crop consultants and contract researchers in order to exchange ideas and discuss research needs for the benefit of Louisiana agriculture. This time of networking and information gathering is crucial to bringing topics of interest and benefit to our consultants, producers, and other agricultural professionals at our annual consultants' meeting, the Louisiana Agricultural Technology & Management Conference, to be held at the Paragon Casino Resort, Marksville, LA, February 8-10, 2023.
We see almost daily the changes affecting agriculture. Staying informed is our best defense in becoming and/or remaining successful in our agricultural professions. This event will afford the opportunity for crop consultants and researchers to interact with LSU AgCenter and USDA-ARS researchers and specialists, as well as LDAF personnel in discussion of important issues affecting Louisiana agriculture.
On Friday morning, September 30th, general discussions will begin at 9:00 a.m. We’ll come together for a time of introduction and we’ll hear from AgCenter crop specialists and researchers who will hit on the highlights of the season and what they see as the important issues of the next growing season. We’ll then break out into crop specific groups, after which time we'll come back together for a wrap-up of discussions. This is a time of informal exchange, and your input is greatly valued. Our President, Jeremy Babin, and President-Elect/Program Planning Committee Chairperson, Tim White (if he’s not picking cotton) will facilitate the general discussions, and others will be assigned to each crop specific breakout group to recognize those wishing to contribute.
Lunch will be provided from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m., then invited guests are free to depart or stay and sit in on the Program Planning Committee meeting where we’ll be drafting the 2023 annual meeting (LATMC) program. The LACA Executive Board and Program Planning Committee will remain after lunch, and meet until ~3:00 p.m. to make preliminary plans for the 2023 consultants' annual meeting, the Louisiana Agricultural Technology and Management Conference.
. There will be no registration (meal) fee charged again this year, but please check in at the registration desk at ~8:30 a.m. to pick up your name badge and list of discussion topics compiled from previous discussions and emails.
On behalf of the LACA Executive Board and Program Planning Committee, thank you in advance for your participation in this year's discussions and fall planning meeting. Please don't hesitate to call Denise Wright at 337-945-3694 or email (denise@laca1.org) if you have any questions or need further information.
