LSU’s live tiger mascot, Mike VII, has been vaccinated against COVID-19, the university announced Monday.
The four-year-old tiger received his first shot July 16 and his second dose Friday. Both shots were administered by his veterinarian, David Baker.
According to the university, Mike VII hasn’t had any side effects from the vaccine, which was donated to him by Zoetis, a global animal health company. Zoetis’ vaccine has been used in dozens of zoos since it was given experimental use authorization by the United States Department of Agriculture.
