At the end of last week’s Legislative session, state Rep. Raymond Crews obtained $25,000 in funding to explore new avenues in saving Louisiana Highway 537 in Bossier Parish.

“I think it is critically important because if you look at a map you can see the Red River and I guess they call it ditch number 1. Basically, it would isolate this piece of land in Louisiana and there are only two ways into that corner of the state and that is the 537. There is another little highway, but that highway only has a small bridge capable of light automobile trafficking it can carry any kind of heavy trucks or equipment. So, I think this bridge is critical,” said Crews.

LA Highway 537 came into view when citizens of Plain Dealing began to bring awareness to the erosion that is threatening LA Highway 537, specifically the bridge over ditch 1.
