Spring '21 Looking Much Better Than Spring '20 For Louisiana Crawfish

Ralph Babin from Raceland may have retired from active crawfish farming, but he’s still working on the Louisiana Crawfish Promotion Board to advance the industry he’s worked in for so long.

And with spring now fully arrived in Louisiana, it’s getting to be what is normally the busiest time of the year for the Louisiana Crawfish industry.

“It’s all time related,” says Babin, “and we have to try and get it all in before summer.”

But as businesses start opening up more, Babin believes more crawfish can reach the consuming public.

“That’s the way it’s been since this pandemic started. It’s really put a bind on the industry because we can’t move the product. And until things open up a little more to full bloom, we’re kind of caught on how much we can move.”
