LSU Veterinary School Names New Head of Veterinary Clinical Sciences

BATON ROUGE—Frank Andrews, DVM, DACVIM, has been named head of the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine's Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS) department. He has served as the interim VCS department head since September 2020.

Dr. Andrews joined the faculty of the LSU SVM as a professor in VCS and director of the Equine Health Studies Program in August 2008. He received his BS and DVM from Washington State University in 1979 and 1983, respectively. He also received his MS from Washington State in 1983. He is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. His research focus is on treatment and prevention of gastric ulcer disease in horses.

“I am looking forward to taking over the reins as Department Head of Veterinary Clinical Sciences as we forge ahead going from 'Good to Great'!" said Dr. Andrews.

Joel Baines, VMD, Ph.D., dean of the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, offered his thanks to each of the candidates for the position and looks forward to working with Dr. Andrews to further the mission of the department. "Dr. Andrews assumes leadership of VCS at a critical time in which we continue to advance our strategic planning and optimize the mission of VCS in teaching, research and service," said Baines.
