Gov. Edwards Urging Residents to Stay Home and off Roads During Winter Weather

Gov. John Bel Edwards held a news conference Monday to address winter weather across Louisiana.

Edwards urged residents to stay off the roads due to snow and ice reported statewide.

Edwards on Thursday declared a state of emergency due to heavy rainfall and wintry conditions.

Major roads across the state have been shut down due to icy conditions.

Gov. Edwards also confirmed the state's first winter storm fatality.

Edwards asked residents who are staying home to conserve power to prevent rolling blackouts.

Both Cleco and Entergy have asked residents to conserve power.
