MEMPHIS, TENN (December 17, 2021)– The U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol will be featured in the upcoming episode of EARTH with John Holden. EARTH is hosted by six-time Emmy Award winner John Holden, who takes viewers around the globe to showcase eco-friendly initiatives that are enhancing the lives of Earth’s inhabitants through health, business, and various other advanced technologies and solutions.

Mead Hardwick (left), of Newellton, provide details about the sustainability and conservation practices used on their farm to John Holden, host of the EARTH television series.

Kellon Lee (left), of St. Joseph, explains sustainable cotton growing techniques utilized on his farm to EARTH host John Holden.

During this segment, which will air across multiple networks in December 2021 and January 2022, viewers will get an inside look at how the Trust Protocol helps U.S. cotton growers meet the changing demands from their end customers while better documenting and verifying the sustainability practices and advances already incorporated into their farms.

“The Trust Protocol aims to set a new standard in more sustainable U.S. cotton production,” said Gary Adams, president of the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol. “The program leverages science-based farm level measurement, quantifiable and verifiable goals, and an underlying commitment to transparency and continuous improvement.”

The sustainability efforts of Trust Protocol grower members Kellon Lee, of St. Joseph, and Mead and Marshall Hardwick of Newellton, Louisiana, are highlighted in the episode, demonstrating how the program enables U.S. cotton growers to prove their sustainable stewardship and support their commitment to continuous improvement.

“We, along with many other U.S. cotton growers, have implemented sustainability practices and are taking steps to improve the health of the environment around us,” said Marshall Hardwick, a Trust Protocol grower member. “Precision agriculture and other innovations have enabled us to reduce water use, energy use and improve the health of the soil, resulting in a more sustainable ecosystem.”

Launched in 2020, the Trust Protocol brings quantifiable and verifiable goals and measurement to sustainable cotton production and drives continuous improvement in six key sustainability metrics—land use, soil carbon, water management, soil loss, greenhouse gas emissions and energy efficiency.
