Small steps have been taken toward bringing broadband internet service to rural areas in northeast Louisiana.
Harris Hall in Lake Providence hosted the first stop Monday in a road show organized by the Louisiana Office of Broadband Development and Connectivity, also called ConnectLA, for the launch of the state Granting Unserved Municipalities Broadband Opportunities (GUMBO) grant program. Community leaders from East Carroll, West Carroll and Madison Parishes, along with state legislators and officials with ConnectLA discussed broadband access and affordability for the area.
