Hurricane Laura was one of the most costly storms in Louisiana's history for farmers and the timber industry, LSU College of Agriculture experts said, estimating the damage at around $1.6 billion.
Laura, one of the most powerful storms to hit the Gulf Coast, caused more than $525 million in damage to Louisiana's farmers and $1.1 billion in damage to the timber industry, according to the LSU AgCenter. It's likely the figures will increase when the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries completes the damage assessments for fisheries.
